Alug 7684e6aa07 Blua: opcode OP_SELF operate only with string keys, so they can use fast-track table access
https://github.com/lua/lua/commit/cb3d5dce30089512085f78a0bef79e30ef732e30

Alug 0fb752b745 Blua: OP_SELF can use 'luaV_fastget' specialized for strings, as it is applied only to string keys
https://github.com/lua/lua/commit/257961c601fdec1ea1f9640d460e0d31c39333a1

Alug c418fe3ef8 Blua: 'luaV_fastget' only treats the real fast case (table with a non-nil value at given key, so that it does not need to check metamethods)
https://github.com/lua/lua/commit/1a44e822009752513ce895b9eabc51a4ee4a195a

Alug fdccc80260 Blua: 'Protect' in table operations is not needed in the fast track

alufolie91 fed7020da1 hash_sparse: change length checks
dont early return on 0 len, let it be the falltrough case, this seems to help branch prediction
2026-03-13 18:58:49 +01:00
alufolie91 1a4255d9df luaS_newlstr: use hash also for checking strings
taken from raptorjit
we can check the hash first to skip quite a bunch of memcmps which should be faster in most cases (hopefully but quick timedemo tests confirmed that)

alufolie91 f6ead71f0c blua: handle 0 length strings in hash_sparse 2026-03-13 18:58:31 +01:00
Alug 966f60f590 Experiment: replace lua´s string hash with luajits ARX hash
the string hashing was the most hit and most spent in part of the whole game in alot of cases
replacing it with luajits algo absolutely massively improves lua performance (10-15fps in my bench timedemos!)
however idk how all this stuff exactly works so this needs alot of testing to make sure nothing breaks
ive rewritten the unaligned ptr access slightly to use memcpy for safety with some platforms that require stricter alignment
2026-03-13 18:58:21 +01:00
alufolie91 9afc018a45 Avoid computing invalid addresses
luaV_execute should compute 'ra' only when the instruction uses it.
Computing an illegal address is undefined behavior even if the address
is never dereferenced.

Alug 467ecf8224 fix adding bogus resolutions into the resolution list when setting a new defaultres
CV_SetValue will call the callbacks each, which means when it sets the width, the height cvar will not be updated yet, which most definitely will not be in the modelist, so it will add it regardless
2026-02-03 22:02:17 +01:00

Alug a05413d925 fix erronous "Could not set custom resolution" warning on startup
the cvars may have not been initialised yet to anything
just return -2 and ignore
2025-11-24 20:49:45 +01:00
Alug 8a8cbffd12 I_CheckDesktopRes: use SDL_GetCurrentDisplayMode
instead of SDL_GetDesktopDisplayMode, as the former only returns the display mode from when the window was created, which might not reflect the actual current desktop mode.
Maybe fixes some resolutions being incorrectly reported asa having visual issues

Alug c312380944 check if our desired screen res already is in the videomode list
before deciding to rebuild the whole list when changing the resolution cvars
2025-11-18 05:22:50 +01:00
Alug b5bb2b42bf I_FillScreenResolutionsList: shrink list if it is too large
we check against MAXMODEDESCS, which is the maximum of modes the videomode can list
just in case we really get a display with a fuckton of resolutions, which most likely wont ever be the case though
this just removes the smallest modes from the list (accounting for the canonicals), to keep things simple
2025-11-18 04:55:50 +01:00
Alug d074f375ca M_VideoModeMenu: make sure red marked modes take precedence 2025-11-18 04:55:45 +01:00

as they lead to visual errors in openglmode without fbo support

Alug 48f2d0ff83 make sure our custom res fits within MAXVIDMODES
33 are alot so this probably will never be the case (i hope)
2025-11-09 20:21:30 +01:00
Alug 517723f9c1 handle custom res differently + make VID_NumModes return actual vidmodes
custom resolutions now will be put into the resolution list
which means they are selectable from the menu
2025-11-09 20:16:44 +01:00
Alug 6915077e0f refresh the video menu list if our resolution list changes
if you move the gamewindow to a different display, the video menu will now upadate to the new resolutions
2025-11-09 19:16:36 +01:00
Alug 406dbf333d use a video_mode_t thing for our custom resolution
perhaps we may merge it into windowedmodes? not sure
but this works for now

Alug c3d02090e4 WIP: remove hardcoded resolutions
much thanks dsda-doom for most of the code for this

- clean up
- handle custom resolutions more sane
- figure out the best maximum resolution list size the menu can display
