mostly ported from https://git.do.srb2.org/Hanicef/SRB2Classic/-/commit/62151a1a38a2a931d245a16a7c83ba6aebb0afb0
based on https://github.com/Indev450/SRB2Kart-Saturn/tree/unnestmothink so that should be merged first

adjusts things and fixes all errors thrown since GCC 15
but keeps an interger boolean type instead of using the supplied __BOOL type from stdbool
this is due to some packed structs relieng on a certain struct size (int bool is 4 bytes whereas stdbools is 1 byte)
