alufolie91 0016d4836a hash_sparse: change length checks
dont early return on 0 len, let it be the falltrough case, this seems to help branch prediction
2026-02-22 14:03:50 +01:00
alufolie91 66bc684738 luaS_newlstr: use hash also for checking strings
taken from raptorjit
we can check the hash first to skip quite a bunch of memcmps which should be faster in most cases (hopefully but quick timedemo tests confirmed that)
2026-02-22 01:57:20 +01:00
alufolie91 44e377c981 blua: handle 0 length strings in hash_sparse 2026-02-21 23:13:27 +01:00
Alug 91de633633 Experiment: replace lua´s string hash with luajits ARX hash
the string hashing was the most hit and most spent in part of the whole game in alot of cases
replacing it with luajits algo absolutely massively improves lua performance (10-15fps in my bench timedemos!)
however idk how all this stuff exactly works so this needs alot of testing to make sure nothing breaks
ive rewritten the unaligned ptr access slightly to use memcpy for safety with some platforms that require stricter alignment

Roberto Ierusalimschy 864e28fcf7 Avoid computing invalid addresses
luaV_execute should compute 'ra' only when the instruction uses it.
Computing an illegal address is undefined behavior even if the address
is never dereferenced.

Alug b2b0ca17d3 lua branching hint stuff

Alug 6ba97bc43c only do the anim texture maths if we need it
idk why but this showed up during profiling
best would be just to redo the whole system since it sucks lol

Alug 0fbde146a9 remove some unused fields from precipmobj_t
we do not have animating precip nor do we cast it to mobj_t anymore, so we can just get rid of this stuff
reducing the struct size by 16bytes wowie

Alug 10b9d96259 hw_clip: replace "RoundToInt" with lrint
prefer to use standard lib functions if possible
lrint does the same thing (well ofc as long as no one touches the rounding direction löl) and is even quite a lot faster (though this is negligible in this case)

Alug 0f7001ef5c opengl: tiny optimiazation for vhs effect
dont call rand within the loop, use xorshift instead
while not massive, we dont need to call rand thousands of times, the xorshift is visually indistinguishable
this is still rather slow due to the crapton of draw calls and should best be replaced by a shader or something
